A tribute to Rosemary

Rosemary Cox Berry McGaughey, the daughter of Rosa Schienbein and John Emmett Cox, was born on June 8, 1922 and passed away in her sleep on May 15, 2013. She spent most of her childhood years in the Indiana Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Children’s Home in Knightstown where she learned to become a beautician. After marrying Robert Berry In 1944, she lived and worked in New York City at Oppenheim, Collins & Company then moved with her husband to Indianapolis where they raised their three children and lived together until his death in 1987. Her second husband was Charles O. McGaughey, owner of MCL Cafeterias, who predeceased her in 1992.

Survivors include Robert L. Berry (Connie) of Delaware, OH; Ronald L. Berry (Julie) of Indianapolis; Holly Berry of Eugene, Oregon; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Rosemary was a member of Fifth Church of Christ Scientist, Indianapolis. She lived a life of spreading love and a sense that “All is well” to the people around her.
